Accessibility statement
This site is for families of people with disabilities, so anyone has to be able to use it. Here we explain what we did, how we check it and what is still missing.
We want everyone to be able to use this site.
You can make the letters bigger.
You can change the colours to see better.
You can read easier texts, with pictures.
The site can read the texts out loud to you.
If something does not work for you, write to us.
The standard we follow
Our goal is level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, the international reference published by the W3C.
In Argentina, Law 26,653 requires the State and the companies that provide services to it to have accessible websites. FUPIS is not covered by that law, but we treat it as the minimum.
We have not yet had an external audit or tests with disabled people. That is why we do not say the site “complies”: we say it is our goal, and explain how we check it.
What you can adjust
The “Accessibility” button, at the very top, opens the panel. It is also in the footer of every page.
- Text size, from 90% to 160%, without the page breaking.
- High contrast: black background with white and yellow text.
- More space between letters, words and lines.
- Easy read: short sentences with pictograms in the main sections.
- Read aloud: move the mouse or the keyboard over a text and you hear it.
- Your settings are saved in your browser for your next visit.
What works without adjusting anything
- You can go through the whole site with the keyboard, and you can always see where the focus is.
- Every page starts with a link to skip to the main content.
- Ordered headings and named regions, for screen reader users.
- Every photo has a description.
- Videos come with a written transcript.
- It adapts to screens from 320 pixels wide.
- If your system asks for reduced motion, the site does not animate scrolling.
- It is available in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
How we check it
Before publishing any change we run more than 170 automated tests in a real browser, and we run them again on the live site. They include the axe tool in all three languages, on phones and computers, with the normal design, high contrast and easy read; the whole accessibility panel; the mobile menu; and that nothing gets cut off at eight different screen widths.
We also go through the site by hand using only the keyboard.
What is still missing
- We do not have videos in Argentine Sign Language.
- Easy read does not yet cover the news or the “Worth keeping at hand” section.
- Some documents we link to, such as Resolution 311/16, are PDFs from other bodies and may not be accessible.
- Read aloud uses the voices installed on your device: if there is none in your language, it sounds with another voice or not at all.
If something does not work for you
If you find a barrier, or need this information in another format, write to us at fupisbsas@gmail.com. Tell us which page you were on and what happened: we will fix it and get back to you.
